Amazing Hack: Put A Band-Aid On Your Finger.

This is a fantastic idea on how to cut a regular Band-Aid and apply it to a fingertip in a way that it stays put much better than the conventional method.

But how do you apply a Band-Aid around a knuckle, so you can still bend your finger?  This video shows you how!

Scripture Rings

by Shannon Long ~ Used by permission
http://www.swtblessings.com/2011/04/scripture-rings.html

My sweet friend Susan asked me to make some scripture rings
for a retreat she and two other ladies are hosting this weekend.

 The retreat is a very special retreat-
only for those mothers who have lost children
 and I was honored to do something to help.

 Although a tad time consuming,
these are super easy to make and a great way to
share scriptures with someone.

Here's how to make them:

1. Print out the scriptures
 {see printables below or make your own using a business card template}
and cut them out.

2. Cut out scrapbook paper into rectangles a
 tiny bit larger than your scripture cards.
I used a different kind of paper for each verse.
{I used a paper cutter and it was much faster!}

3. Glue the scripture cards on top of the scrapbook rectangles.

4. Take the string off of the tags
{I used these tags}
and glue the scrapbook rectangle in the center of the tag.

5. Take a book ring and put thru the hole in a set of tags.

6. Grab a few pieces of ribbon and tie to the ring
and you are done.

These are awesome to put on your desk,
in your purse or to give as a gift!

Motivate Your Child Action Plan

Parenting Insight You Can Use Now
from the book,
Motivate Your Child Action Plan
by Dr Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller, RN, BSN
Used by permission

It's good to be practical with children. It's helpful to give specific instructions about what you want them to do, not just what they shouldn't do. One way to be practical as you help children develop character is to use working definitions. We use these a lot in our counseling to help children understand life more. Here are some examples, but you can be creative and think of many more.
Obedience is doing what someone says, right away, without being reminded.
Honor is treating people as special, doing more than what's expected, and having a good attitude.
Perseverance is hanging in there even after you feel like quitting.
Attentiveness is showing people you love them by looking at them when they say their words.
Patience is waiting with a happy heart.
Self-discipline is putting off present rewards for future benefits.
Gratefulness is being thankful for the things I have instead of grumbling about the things I don't have.
You don't have to use them all. Just choose the one that your child needs right now and teach how to put that character quality into practice. Put them up around the house. This positive approach gives kids a vision for what they need to work on.
