A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. -- Prov. 17:22
When my daughter, Amelia, was age 4, we were invited to a Mother-Daughter Tea at our church. During the Tea, the daughters were given a quiz to see how well they knew their mothers. One of the questions asked was, "What is your mother's favorite hymn?" -- to which Amelia replied, "My daddy." ~ Anne in Virginia
Kids' Quotes from Melissa, the Czech Republic:
*We call our family devotions "Wisdom Search." Our 2 year old Morgan pronounces it "Women's Church." Tonight in Wisdom Search, we were asking the kids different questions. We asked Morgan where Jesus was born and she correctly answered Bethlehem, after I began the word by saying, "Be...". Then we asked her who was his mother and when I said "Ma..." she said "Mary!". Then we asked her who was his earthly father and began, "Jo..." she said "Joe and melba Jordon!!" Joe Jordan is the director of all of Word of Life and his wife's name is Melva. How hilarious is that! Then we asked her who the disciples were and when I said "Math..." she shouted out "Math U See!" (That is the home school math program we use). She is just too much! We were all howling with laughter and Ashleigh ( who is 4) said, all giggly, "She gives me the creeps!" She meant to say, "She cracks me up!" Needless to say we had quite a fun devotion time tonight! I just had to share this as it just tickled us so. When Sam closed this very spiritual :-) time in prayer, he thanked the Lord for such neat kids who are such a blessing to us. He thanked God for laughter and the uplift it brings to our hearts.
Two Kids' Quotes from Lisa in Virginia
*When Sarah was little, I dressed her in pants with elastic at the ankles. The pants always "rode up" above her ankles. She would ask me to pull her "leg shells" down! ( She meant her pants legs!)
*Joshua also recently learned about Davy Crockett and enjoys pretending to be the brave pioneer. He was a little confused, though, and sang, "Davy, Davy Crockett -- King of the Wild Front Deer!"
Kid's Quote from Rachel in Virginia
*While we were eating watermelon, my middle son asked, "Mommy, do watermelon trees grow in Virginia?"

* What a joy grandchildren are! I have a couple of sayings from my granddaughter Ashtyn, age 3. When she was 2, last Christmas, her daddy picked her up at preschool and said, "Ashtyn, it is time to go home." Ashtyn replied, "Daddy, I'm not going with you unless you have your checkbook."
* The day after the Fourth of July, Ashtyn's preschool teacher asked, "Who can tell me whose birthday we celebrated yesterday on the Fourth of July?" Ashtyn raised her hand and when called on stated, "Miss America's!"
* One day Ashtyn and her Mom were driving home and the road was under construction. The road was very bumpy and they were driving slowly. Ashtyn told her Mom to stop the car. When asked why, Ashtyn announced, ''I'm going to get out and help them boys!"
from a dear friend who enjoys being a grandma:
* I took some pictures today of my little 3 year old granddaughter, as she "knelt" before the TV. She was watching a "Precious Moments" video, "Timmy's Gift," and watched it 5 times in a row! Every time at the end, when Timmy and the little animals all line up and kneel before the manger, she would copy what they were doing. She would always say, "Baby Jesus." It was cute.
* But not as cute as the last thing she did! Just before the ending, she wrapped her little bunny up in a fingertip towel she plays with (there is Snowflake, the bunny, in the video); then she wrapped her Veggie Tales Madame Blueberry up in her own blanket (like the Baby Jesus); then she asked me to wrap her up. I did. She asked me to cover her head with the blanket. I did. I asked her if she was Mary (I thought that would probably be the case; there was Mary on the video with wrap over her head and body). Little One didn't reply for awhile; she just sat very still under the blanket. Then she said softly ... "I'm a Precious Moment."
Ahhhhh! This Grandma nearly died! I had called her that about 2 hours prior when she started watching the video. She remembered! I guess she probably doesn't even know who Mary is yet; at least not at 3 years old. But she knows she's a Precious Moment!
from Marci in Indiana:
* I just finished reading your newsletter and one of my son's (who was 3 at the time) gems popped into my mind. We were looking out our window that looks over at our neighbor's house. He pointed over at the roof and wanted to know what it was. I told him it was the roof -- like in the book, "The Three Little Pigs." He looked up at me and said "The big bad woof?" My husband enjoys telling Logan stories and one of them is "The Three Little Pigs." That is where the "big bad woof" came from. (I make sure there is a pleasant ending to the story though. :) )
* Another time he had been sick and had been unresponsive to us (due to low blood sugar). We prayed for him and he woke up enough to eat a little bit of banana and drink a few sips of water, then went back to sleep. He woke up about half an hour later, apparently feeling better. The first thing he said when he sat up was, "God takes care of me."
