Fifteenth Anniversary for the Heart to Heart Newsletter / Blogs / Missing Newsletters / Subscriber Comments

by Lois Breneman - Heart to Heart - 2014

When I think of all the years the Lord has helped me send this newsletter to so many special ladies all over the world, the words to a song always come to my mind - "To God Be the Glory!  Great Things He Hath Done!"

In the very beginning (February 1999) I sent out three short e-mails each week.  That changed to a longer newsletter sent once a week for a good while.  Later it was sent twice a week for quite a few more years, before going to once a month, as it is currently being sent.  Since my husband's full retirement last June, we've been able to spend more time visiting our children and do other traveling while we are still able.  Some months it has been difficult to get a newsletter ready in time.   I feel like I am winding down in my strength and energy, in keeping up with all that I should, but keep trudging alone.  By God's grace and with His much-needed help, I will continue as long as He gives me the strength.
Your prayers and words of encouragement every now and then are very much appreciated along the way!  And now on to the 16th year for "Heart to Heart!"

DID YOU KNOW THERE ARE TWO BLOGS FOR HEART TO HEART?
I'm learning of ladies all the time who say they know nothing about the two blogs, so here's the information:

Links are shown at the top of every newsletter.
All topics are organized in a categorized list and there is a search bar as well.

Lots of my photography is shown there - a renewed passion in recent years.
From the Main blog, you can easily transfer to the Recipes blog.
Ten different categories of recipes are shown in tabs at the top of the home page.

If you forget the blog links, you can simply do a search for "Lois Breneman - Heart to Heart" and the link will be given.

You Can Help!
If you find any misspelled words or incorrect grammar, please notify me.  I'm not perfect, and you'll be doing me a big favor.  Thanks so much!

IF YOU EVER STOP RECEIVING "HEART TO HEART" AND DON'T KNOW WHY . . . Please keep this in mind.
If you still want to have "Heart to Heart" coming to your inbox, please send me your old and new e-mail address when you make a change.  If you've been dropped, most likely your e-mail address was changed but you forgot to let me know.  This happens all the time!  In order to be added back to the Master E-mailing List, you can do one of two things:

1.  You can simply reply to any newsletter giving your name, as well as your old and new e-mail addresses, asking to be added back to the list, and your message will come to my inbox.

2. Or you can do a search for "Lois Breneman - Heart to Heart" and (http://heartfilledhome.blogspot.com), the link to the blog  will appear.  Go to the "Contact" tab at the top to get my e-mail address, and send me your current e-mail address, asking to be added back.

I wanted to thank you for the love, time, and obvious prayer that goes into each edition of Heart to Heart. What a blessing you are. I love reading the articles, stories, kids quotes, recipes, and yes -- even the info about coupons I cannot get or use. :) heehee  The Lord always uses something in each issue to touch my heart, challenge me in my daily walk with Him, encourage me in a discouraging moment, or just to remind me how much I am loved. Thank you for ministering ... to me, and to so many others. ~ Tracy Coupe in Ecuador

Lois, you have outdone yourself!  Loved this newsletter.  I had never noticed your recipe blog before.  Awesome. I bookmarked it and will check it daily.  Thanks for your service and love. ~ Prudence Kinley-Ruth in Pennsylvania

A friend forwarded your Heart to Heart newsletter to me so I could check it out.  She is apparently on your mailing list now.  I told her who you were (my former college roommate) and that I was very familiar with your newsletter.  She said she was trying to introduce you to as many of her friends as she could as she thought your newsletter was wonderful and she wanted her friends to know about it.  Just thought I'd let you know. ~ Bernadine Teague in Missouri

The 14th Anniversary for "Heart to Heart" & Subscriber Comments

Yes, it has been fourteen years ago since "Heart to Heart" began with only four subscribers in February of 1999!  The Lord has blessed this ministry and the newsletter reaches many ladies of all ages in all fifty states and sixty-two countries.  I give Him all the glory, and will continue as long as He instructs and enables me.  The blogs for "Heart to Heart" reach even more people who tap into the ministry from that means of technology.  I am able to see the locations of those who visit the blogs, and find it quite interesting when I have time to check.

HAVE YOU BEEN TO THE TWO "HEART TO HEART" BLOGS YET?

Your blogspot, http://heartfilledhome.blogspot.com, is just fabulous!!!  And I know it took an incredible amount of time and perseverance to complete it and get it up and running. Thank you for taking the time to make it happen. What a treasure of info, encouragement and art. Your photography is incredible!  Keep it up, as you are a blessing to many women, which in turn is a blessing to their husbands and children.  Praise the Lord!

This note is just to say THANK YOU!!! Thank you for all your hard work, your sweet spirit and what a wonderful blessing and encouragement you've been for me over the years.
My daughter and I can't wait to sit down every time I get your Heart 2 Heart newsletter and we read the whole thing! At one sitting! :-) I've saved every one of them.
I just wanted you to know how much you are appreciated and what a blessing you are to those of us that look forward to seeing your newsletters in our inbox.
Praying God continues to bless you, as you bless others in His Name.

from Beth Breon in Pennsylvania:
I just wanted to let you know I am soooo thankful for you & your ministry!  You have been a continual encouragement to me over the years & help!  I mentioned several years ago that I was going through a time of great anxiety, which for one who has always had a “carefree” spirit, was quite a surprise.  The Lord is bringing me daily through this dark water.  I do not savor the thought of continuing this experience or going through it again, but I can truly say, if it meant I would know Him like I know Him now, to be so confident that my prayers are going directly to my Almighty’s Throne of Grace & to truly know my Savior lives, then I would do it all again.  Several years ago, I asked Him to teach me that He was all I need.  Through these rough waters, He is teaching me that!  He is an Amazing & Gracious Lord.
Anyhow, your emails & notes have been such an encouragement & sometimes were what He used to keep me going one more step.  I know this sounds terribly drastic, but when the blackness of anxiety sets in…it can be completely overwhelming.  Sometimes just reading your notes gave me hope of a happier time & knowing the Lord was working in the lives of women across the world & He was working in mine, too.   I will continue to pray for you & your family.

from Melody Jeffrey in Virginia:I am so blessed by your newsletter. Thank you for serving in this ministry to help so many of us with your scripture quotes, recipes and tips for making our homes a peaceful place. Your Sister in Christ

from Ruth Brown in Florida:
Yes, keep me on your email list -- definitely!!!  I would rather receive 2 copies than no copies.  Even though I am a 73 year old grandmother, I just love your hints & suggestions to today's younger mothers, and all your recipes are so good, and some are even "to die for"!!!
AGAIN,  PLEASE KEEP ME ON YOUR EMAIL LIST!!!  I've enjoyed each and every issue for the past several years, and hope to enjoy future issues as much or more!!!!
God bless you as you keep His name and His love in each issue.

from Vickie Butterfield in Idaho:
You are doing an awesome job!!! I personally love the links for further information. That way I can click on the links I want, and skip the rest without paging thru so much.  I enjoy your newsletters and you've printed a couple of things I've submitted and it was fun to see myself in print :) Keep up the good work....it is inspiring.  God's blessings

from Susan Brown in Kansas:
I enjoy your newsletter every time you send it.  I find inspiration, good ideas, and a few giggles in every issue.  I believe I would appreciate it even if I were able to access only partial information.  I am happy to accept even the morsels.  You continue to be a blessing to me.

from Kim Umphress in Texas:
I have received your newsletter for many, many years, but have failed to let you know how much I enjoy each one!  Thank you for the time and effort that you put into each newsletter - the encouragement, stories, recipes, craft ideas - are a true blessing and enjoyable read!  "Heart to Heart" is definitely an appropriate title for what transpires every month!  Thanks again and God bless you richly!

AND NOW BEGINS THE 15th YEAR!  May the Lord be glorified in each issue as well as on the blogs!

13th Anniversary for Heart to Heart - Beginning the 14th Year!

The Lord deserves all the honor and praise for this  ministry which He began and is allowing to continue.

Comment from Amanda from South Africa
I originally signed up for this newsletter years ago because of the lack of “older women” to teach us “younger women." Well, a few years have passed and I am now teaching some younger women.

Just to encourage the missionary folk or those thinking of missionary work:
I am a South African, born and bred for 13 generations on this soil.  And though my skin isn’t black, I am as African as my roots.

If it wasn’t for God’s grace and for American missionaries that came to my country, I might never have been saved.
Or my husband, or my 3 children, or my parents, or my siblings.  Or the (I don’t know how many) people we have reached out to in 25 years of doing evangelism, children’s work, preaching (my husband), teaching at Bible colleges (dh again), personal discipleship… the list goes on.

This is because there were ordinary folk that left their families, friends, churches, homes, jobs, and country they love.
They were willing to give many, many years of themselves.
Not always did every disciple turn out strong.
Not always did they see the fruit of their labours.
But just to let you know: “… your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 15:58
I, for one, am the fruit of your labour, and my family, and the thousands of people we have reached through the years.
Without being cliched, I can truly pray, God bless you!

Comment from Joyce Quam in Virginia:
Thank you so much for all you do...I hope to spend time reading your newsletters in 2012. They are packed with so much joyful and useful information shared with "heart" and "love." Thank you, my friend.
Comment from Jackie Schlageter:
I wanted to take the time to thank you for your wonderful Heart2Heart Newsletters.  I took the time today to go to your blogs (I have 2 yahoo groups for homeschool families: "WherecanIfindit" and "WherecanIfinditweekly."  When I was reading the January 2012 newsletter I saw the link to your recipe blog and your newsletter blog.  I have put those into my newsletter for Monday.
I also take your newsletters and using my open office program, put the newsletter in a form and font that is easier for me to see and use.  I have macular degeneration and unless I do this I can't read them well.  One of these days I will read them and put them on Disk to have when my eyesight is gone.  Believe me when I say that I will even read the recipes because I love cooking.
Thank you for your work for Christ.  One of these days I will have every newsletter that you have put out in PDF form and then I will put them into a Notebook so that when or if I am unable to read them someone can read them and put them on disk and I can then listen to them even if I can't read them myself.
Comment from Mary Lynn Barrett in Virginia:
"I probably don't tell you often enough that I love your newsletters! You have, and continue, to make a very positive difference in untold numbers of lives all across the country....and probably the world! Plus, heaven alone will reveal the eternal results of your faithfulness to the Lord in sharing His Word. I really appreciated you publishing my "Lost and Found" article about my grandson, Noah, several months ago.
As we head into 2012, I am praying with you and for you in every concern of your heart."

You're Never Too Young to Be a Titus 2 Woman to the Younger

2006
Dear Lois,

I always appreciate your encouraging comments!
God has been working in my heart regarding being a Titus 2 woman.  He keeps bringing younger ladies to my doorstep!  I have to chuckle at this because, though I'm almost 35 years old, I still feel like I'm 19 or 20!  Anyway, I'm so thankful for ladies like you who go before me and show me what Titus 2 ladies look like.  Thanks for being obedient to the Lord - if more of us were, it'd be a whole lot more encouraging world to live in.  You're my hero!!

Love, Julie

Used by permission from Julie.  To receive Julie Druck's monthly newsletter, A Heart for Home, send a blank e-mail to: subscribe-aheartforhome@welovegod.org.

Note from Lois:  My Aunt Marian shared with Julie how to receive the Heart to Heart Newsletter several years prior to this e-mail.  When Julie subscribed, she shared with me how my Aunt Marian was her mentor in MOPS!  And now Julie has been a mentor herself since 2006!  That's how the ball keeps rolling!

From a Heart to Heart friend in Pennsylvania (2006):
Thank you so much for your newsletter.  If you only knew how many times your newsletter encouraged my heart (every time I read it!) and how many times the Lord uses you to send that word of encouragement/instruction for marriage or children or some other area that I was needing just that day!  Sometimes, like in this letter, just to hear helpful words from a mom who has already walked the path I am walking right now in raising her little ones for the Lord...even in the way of Easter baskets, it is like music to my ears & helps & refreshes me along the way! I wish I had the words to express the deep gratitude I wish to send to you.  I am asking the Lord to richly bless you as your newsletters have blessed me.  Thank you again so much!  We have never met, but I count you a treasured friend!

More Replies from Heart to Heart Ladies

2006:

Remember, ladies - any glory that seems to go to me in any of these messages below, please deflect any praise away from me and give God the glory!  He is the One Who deserves all the credit!  This is His newsletter.

Back when Heart to Heart was sent out weekly: Thank you so much for the Heart to Heart letters!!  I look forward to them each week!  I try to read them while I walk on the treadmill and it makes the time fly by.  I know it takes a lot of time to write the newsletter.  It has been a blessing in my life and to many others.  My friends and I discuss your letters often.  Thanks again for all the time and effort you put into the newsletter.  Thanks again! - VIRGINIA

Thank you for the Welcome to "Heart to Heart!"  This will be so enjoyable & informative as well.  Having it be Christian-based will bring a whole new joy to it!   Thank you for taking the time to put out a Christian newsletter. - GEORGIA

I just got my first newsletter and I love it! There are so many excellent tips in it, and I love the Bible verses. It is going to help me have a great day. Thanks and God Bless.  - GEORGIA

I received the newsletters that you sent.  I am going crazy with them.  I am saving many of the articles.  I just love the newsletter. - NEW MEXICO

What a special newsletter you provide.  Thank you so much for including me in your mailing.  I am always amazed by a newsletter of this quality and what it must take to provide this.  I am sure it is a blessing to every home that it is sent to.- ARIZONA

I really liked your tips for organization.  I just had my 6th child and I would like to be more organized.  Thank you! - TEXAS

I have received your newsletter about a year and enjoy every bit of it! - SOUTH CAROLINA

Thank you for being such a blessing and encouragement to my life!  - CONNECTICUT

Just had to say thank you again for your fun and enlightening newsletter. - ARKANSAS

I have received the first newsletter and it already is a source of encouragement to me.  Thank you for this ministry.  Being a stay at home mom of small children can be isolating at times and e-mails are sometime a window to the outside world.  What a blessing to be uplifted and encouraged by this newsletter.  I look forward to the next.  - MAINE

This is wonderful!  I have only read as far as the stuffing & so far & I'm thrilled with the tips!  I didn't know how on earth to make stuffing (mine is always left over, because no one eats it but me!  It is terrible!  :)   Grandma always made the stuffing before everyone got there & I was too young to even think about asking how!  Can't wait to try your recipe!  What an encouraging & fun letter!  This is like a Christian Better Homes & Gardens....from a Mom who has tested & tried & not a test kitchen!  - PENNSYLVANIA

Later - from same lady as above: I wanted to give you an update on your Thanksgiving stuffing recipe ... it was wonderful!  I had so much fun putting it together & our family absolutely loved it!  There was hardly any left for leftovers (& in previous years the dog & I have enough for a week!)!  Thank you!   Your stuffing recipe is now in my permanent cookbook!  Also, I enjoyed your Thanksgiving newsletter so much.  Early in the AM on Thanksgiving while everyone was still asleep, I was reading through the recipes to make sure I didn't miss anything.  I forgot you had included some special thoughts & a short devotional.  The Lord used this to give me such a precious quiet time with Him & started out my Thanksgiving in such a wonderful way.  All in all, I think it was one of the best Thanksgivings I've ever had!  - PENNSYLVANIA

"I'm just (the past two weeks) renewing a purpose and calling for my life, as I am a 29 year old homeschool mama of four children (9, 7, 2 and 8 months) and have basically been living in chaos (for me, anyway, if it doesn't seem like it to others).  God is really calling me to obey him, step by step, day by day, moment by moment, and to be still and know Him.  I don't have to do everything -- just follow and obey Him in what He wants me to do.  Anyway, all that to say that I hit rock bottom (organizationally) and am ready for a change for the better!   Thank you so much for the coming tips.  I'll be looking forward to them!  Thank you for having this ministry, and for praying for us!  - FLORIDA

I am loving the newsletters. I set up a large 3-ring binder, so I can keep them together. - PENNSYLVANIA

I really love every part of your newsletter, especially the budget decorating tips and other frugal advice. - TEXAS

I always read your newsletter cover to cover. - CALIFORNIA

Already I'm totally intrigued with the newsletters and hope to find many "blessings" in them.  You sound like you may be in the vicinity of my age and since moving to Ontario, Canada, I've been looking for many of the things you mention in your first email.....mentors, Bible studies, etc.  I have found that these types of things seem to be few and far between here in Canada, at least where I've lived ... and I've been searching for these types of things for over 7 years now, so I've gone back to the net to try and find the encouragement I need.  Thanks again for the ministry you offer and I look forward to being a subscriber for long time to come. - ONTARIO, CANADA

Seventh Anniversary of "Heart to Heart!" To God Be the Glory!

by Lois Breneman, © 2006, Heart to Heart Newsletter

It was February 9, 1999, when the very first Heart to Heart Newsletter was sent to only a small handful of ladies, as an act of obedience to the Lord in following Titus 2 - for the older women to teach the younger women.  As a tribute to all the precious ladies on the e-mail list, I thought I'd take this opportunity to send this anniversary newsletter, plus an extra edition for this month.  In these two editions, I will share excerpts of messages from Heart to Heart ladies with only their states or countries listed, as well as the usual tidbits of information, inspiration and the usual.

These replies from Heart to Heart ladies below will show that it does not take anyone special to make an impact for the Lord in sending a newsletter such as this one.  I am an ordinary person - more of a behind-the-scenes person, rather than one who likes to be in the forefront.  But I know from experience that one doesn't have to have an outgoing personality to be used in the Lord's service, if the willingness to serve is there.

This has always been the Lord's newsletter from the very beginning - not mine.  He is the One who prompted me to send it as encouragement and inspiration to ladies like you.  It began as a newsletter for young wives and mothers, or those who someday hope to be in that category, but I know the Lord enjoys having grandmas and even great-grandmas joining us, as I do!

For those of you young mothers who wish you had more time to do other things such as this, remember I was once where you are today - with little ones to love, care for, teach and train.  It wasn't until after my last child went off to college that I began sending this newsletter.  So enjoy and cherish the season of life in which God has placed you, without allowing other things to crowd out the most important job the Lord has given you to do for now, whatever that may be.  Bloom where you are planted and enjoy every minute with your children.

As you probably already know, I certainly do not send a newsletter because I have all the answers!  I'm so grateful that I am able to draw upon many others who can contribute to this newsletter, so many aspects of the Christian home and family can be covered.  The long list of contributing editors whose articles have appeared in Heart to Heart, with their permission, continues to grow.  We can all learn, including myself, from those many resources.  The older I grow, the more I find out that I don't know, but I still love to learn new things every single day.

The latest example of my learning something new came just this morning!  I spotted a huge bird in our crabapple tree - a bird I had never seen in our yard before, so I literally ran for the binoculars, then the camera!  I also raced from window to window to find a spot for the best picture, zooming in as closely as possible.  After a few window shots, I slowly went outside and quietly crept up closer to the tree where that amazing specimen was perched, having the camera ready to shoot.  As he took off, I got another picture.  Next I got out my bird books, and as far as I can tell, it was a peregrine falcon, comparing the pictures in the books to my digital photos, after zooming in to the max.  So I added this new species to the list of almost 60 different birds spotted in our backyard over the years.  Of course, if falcons make our backyard their home, we will have a lot less songbirds to enjoy!  Because of our backyard stream, we are able to attract more birds than an ordinary yard would, and we really enjoy the rippling sounds of the water as well.  So who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?  My point though, is that I don't have all the answers, and I am still learning many new things!

The Lord deserves all the glory for any good that has come out of Heart to Heart, and I am just thrilled to be used of Him in this way!  So any glory that seems to go to me in any of these messages below, please direct it to the Lord, Who deserves all the credit!  I am simply enjoying the blessings from it all!  It is my joy and privilege to send the Heart to Heart Newsletter to you, and I can't wait to meet each one of you in Heaven some day, if not here on earth!

Thank you for all that you do to be such an encouragement and blessing to other women.  May God bless you greatly. - ISRAEL

Whilst going through the recipes, came upon the fruit salad to my amazement I read about the banana loving mosquitoes.  While I was in Greece recently I was devoured by mosquitoes to the point I have been on two courses of antibiotics and I love bananas and use them every day!  I could hardly believe what I was reading and since my return I am still on medication for these infected bites.  If I only had known this information before traveling there. I enjoy these tidbits for sure. - IRELAND

THERE IS STILL A GREAT NEED FOR OLDER WOMEN MENTORING THE YOUNGER
A sincere and heartfelt e-mail from a dear Heart to Heart friend:

Lois,  Thank you so much for your dedication to your newsletter.  It is such a blessing to so many ladies.  I especially enjoyed reading your most recent account of "Why Send a Christian Newsletter?"  I was very intrigued by the Bible study opportunity you had as a brand new mother.  Quite honestly I was (am) jealous of the opportunity you had -- not a very Christlike attitude I know, but I hope you will forgive me.

I often wonder what happened between then and now as there doesn't seem to be many willing "to encourage and guide me [younger ladies] with godly practical advice and teaching for wives and mothers from God's word".  At least not to the level you described as: "That Bible study was the highlight of my week for thirteen years ... taught us mothers how to love our husband and children and to be keepers at home as instructed in Titus 2."  What happened to that type of encouragement?  I know I long for it along with many other ladies I know.

I would like to share with you my idea of who God may have meant when He instructed the "aged women" to teach the "young women" in Titus 2.  As in my own case, having come to know the Lord, much later in life, age 36, (just 5 years ago) not having had any mentorship or discipleship, I consider myself a "young women" in Christ, needing to be taught by the "aged women."  I believe God's idea of our age has very little to do with our physical age [in the context of Titus 2 and many other passages where Christ refers to us as "Little Children."  But in reality, our physical age often gets in the way, and those of us who may be older, physically, are seen as "aged women" and often miss out on the much needed teaching and encouragement.  Just a thought from me, welcoming yours in return.

MORE LETTERS ECHOING THE NEED OF OLDER WOMEN TO REACH OUT
I have just read the first newsletter and have all the others to read yet, but wanted to write to you right away!  I am so glad that you are taking the time to write to us.  It is hard, very hard, for young moms (I'm 34, so getting less young!) to find a mentor or their Titus 2 woman. In fact, that is exactly why I feel that God would have me write to young moms.  I am not very old, but I can help those younger than me. And you, with your experience, can help even more (I'm only guessing you're older than me since you've been married so long! lol!).  Your newsletters are filled with so much great information.  I am so glad you emailed me and invited me to your list.  I'll spread the word about what you're doing!  Thanks for the encouragement tonight!  - ALABAMA

What a wonderful mission God has given you.  Already by reading your introduction letter I feel like you are the sort of person I can't wait to meet in heaven!!  I would like to say thank you and that I look forward to receiving the articles that you put out and to being encouraged. It is great that there are people like you that take the passage in Titus seriously.  We need lots more experienced 'older' woman that have "been there done that" to help us younger ones out there who are still in the process of bringing up a family and especially in today's troubled world.  May the Lord richly bless you and the work that you are doing for His glory. - NEW ZEALAND

I just wanted to drop you a note concerning your newsletters.  I printed all the letters, punched holes in them and placed them in a red notebook.  I have carried them around to various places to read while I wait.  I'm a person who cannot read without a pen in my hand.  I have a highlighter and pen, marking them up like crazy when I find something pertaining to me.  You remind me so much of my Mama.  I can’t place my finger on the specific but something about you….I’m just not sure what.  God called her home when she was 42.  She died of breast cancer.  I was 14.  I believe the 2 of you would have hit it off. - VIRGINIA

I just began receiving your newsletter and can already see what a blessing it will be to me and my family.  I have seven children 15 and down in age with another due in June. We feel so blessed by our family but I have always struggled with organization. I am working to simplify our life and home. I have already begun to implement some things that you have suggested.  I have been seeking a mentor or older woman for a long time . It seems difficult because a lot of the older women I know seem to think I know it all because I have so many children and they only had a few. Little do they know!  I just had to tell you that I am the same age as your daughter. I was born in March. Just thought it was neat. Like my own mom!!!  - WASHINGTON

Just a reminder that this is the LORD's newsletter.  He deserves all the glory for any good that has come out of Heart to Heart, and I am just thrilled to be used of Him in this way!

Thank you so much for ministering to my heart through your newsletter.  This particular newsletter which consisted of the following messages: A Momma's Trust, Housekeeping and If I Had My Life to Live Over brought me to tears.  Today had been an extraordinary day and it had left me drained and empty.  The input from other women and scripture inspired and encouraged me as your newsletter often does.  I am sure that the amount of time and energy that you put into this newsletter cannot be measured.  Nevertheless, I need to let you know how valuable it is to me as I am sure it is to so many other women. Thank you so much for caring and sharing the love of Christ. - VIRGINIA

I have been enjoying your newsletter and really appreciate all your encouragement and all the work you put into it!  I am the president of my Local MOMS Club and was wondering if you'd mind if I shared your time saving tips with these moms as we are all at home moms who like to squeeze our dollars.  I was talking to another friend of mine who is in another moms club and she asked about it as well. - PENNSYLVANIA

I was forwarded your email newsletter by a friend. We are both Hospice nurses.  I would very much like to receive your monthly newsletter. A special friend called me recently, troubled over not being able to forgive someone for a terrible evil. Your message on obtaining the taped message on forgiveness was perfect timing. Thanks for sharing sooooo many things. - VIRGINIA

As you can see, I am receiving your newsletter and love it!  I am going to use the sugar/soap and pepper object lesson in March when I have Kids Klub again.  Elizabeth Elliott basically told me I was old -10 years ago (I was 34).  I was blessed to be able to go to her 2 day seminar and as she was speaking she was going over the Titus passage and said something like "now you older women, oh say, 30 years old or more...." Imagine my shock thinking I was still a younger woman!  I still feel young and in need of mentoring!  So thank you for providing such a blessing in the form of a newsletter. - MARYLAND

I have been receiving your newsletter for about a year and enjoy it immensely.  This year I have volunteered to be in charge of the newsletter for our MOPS group.  Quite often I find an article in your newsletter I would love to share with my MOPS moms.  One that struck me in particular was last week's article and I would like to have your permission to reprint that for our newsletter.  I really appreciate your help as this is my first year in this position. - NEBRASKA

I am really enjoying your newsletters! Thanks for sending them to me ... there is so much info that I need to copy them and start a file.  I am the MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) mentor at our church, so would you mind if I pass them along to interested mothers? I think some of the moms would really appreciate receiving them. Just let me know. - VIRGINIA

I want to thank you for adding me as a new subscriber to you newsletter.  I just received the first one (Welcome Letter), and it already is a blessing to me.  I am interested it organization, how to save money, and encouragement as a stay-at-home-homeschooling mom.  Thanks again for providing this newsletter as a ministry without charge.  May the Lord bless you. - GEORGIA

Upon reading your newsletter, I knew this was what I needed!  Thank you so much! - ALABAMA

You have no idea how much you help.  Sometimes it feels like you are writing just to me.  I've had a very difficult year, and your messages are ALWAYS timely, and have a message that I need to hear.  Don't ever doubt for a minute that God isn't working through you.  You have been an absolute blessing. - PENNSYLVANIA

Thank you for subscribing me to your newsletter.  Wow!  You certainly jam-pack mega information into each one!  God Bless you for heeding to God's call.  - OHIO

(Articles about campouts and hurricanes were included in this newsletter.) You covered just about everything but earthquakes and terror patrol. Good job! - CALIFORNIA

I appreciate you and your desire to "make a difference." Only God will know the impact of your efforts.  Thank you! - COLORADO

Wow!!  What a lot of great ideas for organizing!  I intend to put a couple of your ideas to use right away. I can use all the help that I can get when it comes to topics that revolve around the Christian home. - WASHINGTON

Just want to sat "Thank You" for all the hard work you put into the newsletter!  It is so refreshing to find it waiting for me...especially after a rough day!  Our house is the house where the neighborhood kids love to play. I love it but some days...it is trying! Your letter always seems to come at the right time!  You are a blessing to me!  PENNSYLVANIA

Just wanted you to know I appreciate your dedication to mother's and to all the hard work you have put into these newsletters over the years. Only in glory will you know the outcome of this ministry.- VIRGINIA
Thank you for your dedication and the sound biblical advise you present in this newsletter. I have often found it not only beneficial, but uplifting. Continue in His service as it becomes us all. - OREGON

I absolutely love getting the newsletter and I'm able to share it with many friends who don't have e-mail! - VIRGINIA

Just a note to say how very much I enjoy receiving your newsletter.  When I see I've gotten an email from you it brightens my life.  Thanks for the wonderful service you offer to so many that mean so much! - MISSOURI

Yes my two sisters have both stated they would love to get the newsletter.  In fact they have both seen copies while visiting and couldn't put it down.  Your ideas are so awesome and practical!!   I will be somewhat sad to hear from you only every other week.  However, I can't imagine the time and amount of work it takes to weekly put it all together and send it out.  I'm just grateful I am on your receiving list and will anxiously await it each month!  - VIRGINIA

I really enjoy your newsletters. The 7/14/05 one was the first one I read. When I came to "Legacy of an Adopted Child" tears came to my eyes. That poem is so beautiful. I'm going to put a copy in my daughter's scrapbook.  She is from Korea. Thank you so much for providing such an uplifting newsletter. - ILLINOIS

Andrea Spears in Virginia replied to last month's encouragement to moms (June, 2010 issue), and since I know she isn't the only young mom who feels this way, I asked if I may include her reply in this newsletter, so here it is!

"I haven't gotten to read this newsletter in its entirety yet, but I wanted to thank you for your bit of encouragement to mothers in the beginning portion.  It meant so much to me.  I have been praying lately that the Lord would give me abundant joy as a mother.  I want to spend my days content with where I am rather than just trying to get by when things seem difficult.  I do realize that I will look back and recall these days (although at times difficult), as some of my best days.  Yesterday I was in the restroom and both children were by my side.  It occurred to me that I never even use the restroom in private!  There are times that I wish someone would just take them from me for a few hours to give me a break, but whenever they are gone (out on a walk with dad or with grandparents), there is an eerie silence in the house. I am so used to the music of their little feet.  I know there will come a day when it's all over so for now I want to take it all in and try to enjoy it as much as possible.  Thank you so much for the reminder.  As always, I look forward to reading the rest of the newsletter! ~ With love - Andrea"

I really appreciate Andrea taking the time to write and share her heartfelt feelings as a mom!  I know there is not a mother anywhere who has not felt those same feelings.  I remember many afternoons as I tried to get dinner ready as a young mom, I would have at least one toddler hanging onto my legs, begging to be picked up!  They don't call the hour between 4 and 5 "Arsenic Hour" for nothing!  : ) ~ Lois

I want to thank you for the Reassurance prayer/poem in this newsletter (shown below from 2/4/10).  I definitely needed this as both of our older sons joined the Army and have moved in opposite directions of home far far away.  They both left, taking their families with them of course (meaning 5 of the grandkids too) -- in the same week.  But it has been tough on this ole mom to have them far away and no longer in the same town with us.  This prayer/poem is just what I needed, even if they are no longer children but grown men of 30 and 29.

Thank you for your wonderful newsletters.  I look forward to reading them each week.  They are uplifting and encouraging.  I share many thoughts, ideas, poems, from them with family and friends and have encouraged them to sign up for their own copies. Thanks for all you do :)

The Tenth Anniversary for the Heart to Heart Newsletter / Subscriber Comments

by Lois Breneman - February, 2009

One of the most interesting aspects of the Heart to Heart ministry has been to realize that we women truly have kindred hearts.  No matter where we live, in one of our 50 states in America or on foreign soil in the other sixty countries that are represented, we all have similar concerns, heartaches, desires, dreams and prayers.  I've become aware of how true this really is from the personal correspondence received in response to the Heart to Heart newsletters.

The following is a sampling of just a few of the messages sent by Heart to Heart ladies, and printed with the permission of each one.  Some of the e-mails tell how an article they read affected their lives.  I trust these notes will bless your heart as they have mine.  These comments are a testimony of what the Lord is doing through Heart to Heart, all because of His starting this ministry ten years ago, with me only as His instrument.  To God be the glory!  Great things He has done!

And as you read each newsletter, please remember to pray for the needs of our Christian sisters, for we are one in the body of Christ.  Also, if you would, please pray that I will always be tuned in to the Lord's leading for each newsletter - to include what He would have me to include, and nothing else.  Thanks so much!  ~ Lois

COMMENTS FROM "HEART TO HEART" LADIES

* I wanted to let you know that the article "Don't waste brain space" (1/5/09 newsletter) about casting our cares on the Lord was exactly what I needed to hear today.  As soon as I began reading it, I started crying and felt the Lord using it to speak to me.  I have a 9 month old (I think I sent you the email & pics) and am a stay at home mom and I really struggle sometimes to know how God wants me to order my time.  I have been trying to get Josiah on a schedule and have been feeling discouraged.  I also feel like so many days go by and I think, "What did I really accomplish today?"  My prayer is that I can cast my cares on Jesus, that He will order my time for me and help me to truly enjoy each moment.  Thanks for letting me share with you, and thanks so much for the newsletter you send out.  It is always so encouraging and helpful.  ~ Michelle Neff in Ohio

* Thank you once again for bringing me a great spiritual lift by way of your newsletter.  Several of my closest friends and I are blessed every month by your willingness to allow God to use your talents.  I have 15 brothers and sisters (that's correct - 15) and some are not Christians.  I am the eldest daughter.  Our parents are deceased, and my husband and I want to be a good influence to all of them and their children.  We also have children and grandchildren.

The reason I am going into all of this is to say I look for ways I can reach out and share with many of them without being preachy.  Please know there is rarely a month that goes by that I do not copy, paste and send something from your newsletter to one or more of them that seems to fit.  I love all of them so much and desire to see them living their lives for God.  I know I have said it before, but it bears repeating, God bless You for this newsletter.  Please pray for my huge family and for me that I would be the witness that God would have me be.  Thank you for your help in being there with exactly something I am looking for to gently say.  Sometimes our lives and these things are the only Bible they read.  I am sure many lives are touched by this newsletter.  You and your husband are lights in a world of darkness.
  ~ Linda in Alabama

* Thank you for all the time and effort you invest in sending out your monthly newsletter!  It has so many useable ideas, helpful information, and God-based encouragement. ~ Betty Robertson
http://ChildrensMinistryIdeasUnlimited.blogspot.com/  The ultimate blog for exciting ministry ideas!

* Just had to share this when I saw "Looking for Mr. Right" (8/4/08) in the last newsletter.  Our daughter is getting married to Mr. Wright in October.  I had a cap embroidered for her that says, "I found Mr. Wright."  (I've attached a photo)  By the way, he also qualifies as Mr. Right, praise the Lord!  Thank you for such a wonderful, helpful newsletter!  God bless you! ~ Miranda in Hawaii

* Your newsletter is always a welcome sight in an overfull Inbox!  I look forward to what great ideas you offer.  I don't usually get to read it all in one setting so I leave it in my Inbox as "new mail" and read bits at a time if I have too.  Thank you for reaching outside yourself and sharing in this way.  You are a blessing to me (& many others too I know).  Thanks for your always helpful newsletter! ~ Susan Brown in Wisconson

* As always, I am so appreciative of you and your ministry with H2H -- it's a blessing to receive every issue!  When we're on the mission field it's also one of the ways I stay "connected" with all that is going on in the states! :0) ~ Tracy Coupe in Ecuador

* I am writing to give you two more names of ladies I teach who would love to receive the H2H Newsletters. I have been sharing mine with them and since we are coming home in November for the holidays they didn’t want to miss any future issues. Thanks again for the great newsletters as they are a cool breath of fresh air on a hot African afternoon. God bless you always. In Christ, Karen Chance (Uganda)

* Thank you for your encouraging newsletter.  I really appreciate the joy and wisdom found therein. ~ Jen Holst in Indiana

I especially enjoy getting new recipes. I love to cook and bake so I am always looking for good recipes. The newsletters are such an encouragement and I appreciate the effort you into them! - Andrea Dooley Spears in Virginia

* This had to be one of my favorites from you.  I'm sitting here with a cup of tea at 5 a.m. and the Lord had me read your saved email. I am blessed by your obedience to Him.  I am encouraged, friend. Thank you for all the stories done with love.  I needed all these reminders today.  I am blessed.  I am His forever, Denise Valles in Maryland †

I just want you to know how much I have and still am enjoying your ministry to women through this newsletter.  I share it and pieces of it all the time!  This is such a special gift that you share.  My Mother died when I was 14 and this newsletter would have been something she would have loved.  Reading it each time is like spending a moment with her.  Thank you. ~ Leigh Hamilton in Virginia

Thank you so very much for compiling this newsletter. There are so many helpful articles. I always appreciate articles on saving money, new recipes, organizational tips, and advice on raising kids. We younger women/moms/wives need mentors in our lives to encourage us and give us wisdom! ~ Leslie Lobdell in Arkansas

I have really enjoyed your very helpful newsletters!  I have three children... age 4, 3, and 10 months.... Jennifer, Moses, and Elisha.  I enjoy them all, and they bring so much joy to our home! I love your helpful tips for saving money, and esp. encouragement for mothers... it seems like often it's just what I needed for the day!!  THANK-YOU so much for the time you put into these newsletters! ~ Serena Yoder in Pennsylvania

I just finished reading this latest issues of "Heart to Heart" (10/7/09 issue) and wanted to say I think I enjoyed it perhaps the most of all you've ever sent! Love the recipes, like making your own sausage (what a smart idea!) and baby wipes (the baby wipes here are of really poor quality, so hopefully my "homemade" ones will be better!:)), and the idea for the "What's That? Box" - I plan to make one for my newest little nephew, due to arrive in a few weeks, for Christmas, and while I'm at it, I'll make one for our April baby as well. :)  Thank you.  The information is REALLY useful! ~ Lori Turner (Last Name - Czech Republic (Oct., 2009)

Thanks for your lovely newsletter.  I love receiving them.  Keep at it! ~ Love from Viv Gregory in Australia

I really enjoy Heart to Heart and thank you for all the work you put into it.  In this December letter, as I read about times for Thanksgiving, I thought someone might be interested in something I began a couple years ago. Every Thursday is a Thanksgiving Day for me now.  I chose that day because it is easy to remember since the national holiday is on Thursday but any day will do.
On those days, I try not to ask for anything in prayer (unless it is an emergency), and instead I just thank the Lord.  For my Bible reading that morning, I say the 103rd Psalms and really think about what it is saying.  Since I am on my church's prayer chain, if there are requests on my Thursdays, of course, I pray for those.
There are so many things to thank the Lord for, but I also try to think of something I have never thanked Him for. Have you ever thanked Him for toes?  You could not stand up very well without your big toe.  Have you ever thanked Him for fitted sheets?  If you are my age, you remember what a hassle it used to be to keep flat sheets on a bed. Have you ever thanked Him for a good parking spot, a driver waiting to let you turn into your street off a busy one or in my case, insulin?
But most of all, I thank Him because of his great salvation and his precious gift to me in his Son.
Helen Setser in Missouri

After receiving the Christmas newsletters:
Thank you so much!  This has been very helpful especially since I ran out of ideas for our next few ladies' meetings in our church. May the Lord continue to use you and this beautiful ministry.  I have sent a copy via e-mail of your newsletter to a sister missionary in one of our churches in the district for her to start using and receiving. ~ Jennie Ramos in Michigan
